AUG 15, 22 .. FROM NOV 9 - 14, 2015 .. PATTI, GULLIBLE AND I TRAVELED TO MONGOLIA'S KHUVSGUL LAKE (PART 3/3)

This post will be our final post showing Gullible's, Patti's and my trip from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, up to the Northwest part of Mongolia to visit Mongolia's Khuvsgul Lake.

I wrote on Trip Advisor ..

This was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to be able to visit the Ashihai Tourist Camp on Khuvsgul Lake. Just the two / three day drive up from Ulaanbaatar is a great adventure. My wife and I, along with Gullible, a close friend, made the journey together. It was set up for us by Genco Tours in Ulaanbaatar. We made the trip in November 2015 well past the normal season to visit. We stayed three nights and the two days in between. The facilities were excellent. The meals excellent. Our heated Ger was also excellent with a porta-potti furnished for our use. What an adventure!

Khuvsgul Lake is considered to be Mongolia's Switzerland. The  Mongolian National Park that encompasses the lake is enormous.

Technically we visited the..

ASHIHAI TOURIST GER CAMP

The ASHIHAI TOURIST GER CAMP was constructed in 2006 and it is located on the western shore of the Khuvsgul Lake and surrounded by the Khangai Mountains. Being the off-season when we were there in November, out of courtesy to us, the camp was opened specifically for our visit by the Genco Travel Services in Ulaanbaatar.  The Ashihai Tourist Camp consists of 20 large traditional gers. In-season, tour services include horse, yak and reindeer riding, biking, hiking and touring the lake by motorboats.

The following photos were snapped as we approached the camp.

There, out in the distance, is Khuvsgul Lake.

In the above and below photos, in the distance, are the round white Gers we will be staying in.

We have arrived.

ASHIHAI TOURIST GER CAMP

I borrowed the below, phenomenal aerial photo, from one of the myriad of (too many to count) Tour-Mongolia websites. So I don't know who to acknowledge and thank.

To enter the camp, you must verify the purpose of your visit at the below entrance building.

We are now inside of the camp.

Below is the Camp Lodge Building.

As you can see in the above photo, one of t
he Ger Camps was in the immediate vicinity of the Camp Lodge. We stayed in this camp and it was very convenient for the three of us. In the upper right of the above photo are the lakeside gers.

Below are photos of the other Ger Camp that was close to Khuvsgul Lake.

Gullible stayed in her own separate Ger. Patti and I stayed in the Ger we show below.

As we go inside of our Ger, you will see the beds are large and  the Gers are very roomy and comfortable.

Yes we had electricity.

In the above and the below photos, the white device to the immediate left of the door, was our 'potty'.

They are not shown in the above aerial photo, but there were some other housing units on the property. As we said above, the camp was opened specifically for the three of us and we did not explore the below units.

A last look at the Ger Camp from a distance. To my immediate back was Khuvsgul Lake.

Now we will go inside of the Camp Lodge.

It was really pleasant inside. We enjoyed some quality time in the lodge.

Because none of us drink alcohol, and because they opened up the lodge just for us, it was sad that the bar tender had no business!

Below is the table where we set-up-camp. Patti and I opted not to eat at the lodge but we enjoyed visiting there and I sure used the table to write post cards.

They served Gullible and our driver Chimdee some outstanding meals.

When you get to the bottom of this post, we have given those of you who may be interested, a link to Gullible's post dated January 8, 2016 that show some outstanding additional photos of the lodge. Treat yourself and see the best-of-the-best, Gullible at work.

The time has come to show you Khuvsgul Lake.

The camp was basically closed for the winter, and winter having begun to arrive, our photos of the lake are somewhat less than spectacular. But we can only show what we saw.

KHUVSGUL LAKE in early November 2015

We enjoyed re-visiting Khuvsgul Lake, and hope you also enjoyed it along with us.

Cap and Patti

Now a promise made is a debt unpaid and we promised to provied you with the below link to Gullible's post of January 8, 2016, that shows 33 of her photos of the lodge. Gullible is amazing!!
