Last month, here on blogspot, we re-visited Arambol Beach, Goa, India.
In our most recent post, published on AUG 1, 22, at Gullible's request, we published a post showing the train ride that Gullible, Patti and I took on November 4th, 2015, from Sukbaatar, Mongolia South to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Having now gotten us to Mongolia in the above post, I decided it would be fun to show you some additional posts and photos of our travels in Mongolia this month.

ON NOV 9 - 14, 2015, yes indeed, 6-3/4 years ago .. PATTI, GULLIBLE AND I TRAVELED TO MONGOLIA'S KHUVSGUL LAKE.
I know, I swear to our Beloved Almighty Creator, that I wrote and published, no not one, not two, but quite a few posts here on blogspot about our trip.
So?? All of them have disappeared, evaporated, from blogspot. Gone forever! Where? I've no idea! Why? I've no idea!
So, in this series of posts, I will re-create the trip we three took together from November 9 through the 14, 2015.
I will now thank our travel host, Genco Travel, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, for our great trip and for the following information.
Mongolia’s Khuvsgul Lake or in Mongolian Dalai Eej / Ocean mother/ Khuvsgul Lake is considered to be Mongolia’s Switzerland. Khuvsgul is one of seventeen ancient lakes worldwide more than 2 million years old, and the most pristine (apart from Lake Vostok) as well as being the most significant drinking water reserve of Mongolia. There are 4 marvelous islands, which is a home of thousands birds and called the earth navel. The lake houses 9 species of fish such as omoul, Siberian white fish and grayling.
This Mongolian National Park comprises emerald green lake Khuvsgul, curative springs, rugged mountain ranges, snowcapped peaks, millions of evergreen trees. This is very rich in terms of both flora and fauna such as deer, sable, bears and delicious berries, mushrooms. The minor ethnic groups, Reindeer herders and Darkhad people, inhabit this area with their unique culture, traditions and Shamanist religion. Visiting with a Reindeer herder’s family, boating, fishing and hiking tours are also available.

We are off for Khuvsgul Lake.
Our absolutely outstanding Genco Travel Guide was Yusef. I am not positive but I believe Yusef spoke seven (7) languages!
Our driver was Chimdee. He could drive a vehicle and ride horses. He was another great addition to our trip.
We are leaving Ulaanbaatar and heading for Khuvsgul Lake (see the red balloon when you click on the link below). It will be a 2 to 3 day drive.
The Mongolian landscape in mid-November.
Yes! There are some very pleasant rest stops. Yes BUT! They are few and they are far between one another.
Below are photos I snapped during our visit to Khutul (see the above map), the first town that we stopped at to eat and relax after what felt like 6 hours of driving!
KHUTUL
Let's eat! Below are photos of our small Cafe. We were lucky to find it and it was open.
Our Menu. Yes Indeed! You Betcha! Yusef helped us out!
Yusef and Chimdee sat at an adjoining table.
We really enjoyed our meal. We really were hungry!
Our cook was very happy with us and with paying customers.
IF you click onto the below link, it will take you to Gullible's absolutely outstanding post about some of the details of Khutul.

How does the Willie Nelson song go?
On The Road Again! And so we were!
Now.
It will take some time BUT..
IF you really want to see some fun interaction that we all enjoyed with the above flock of sheep and their herder, please click onto the below link that will take you to Gullible's post about it.

Whewie! Putting this post together has taken yours truly some time.
What else can we say but to hope some of you found it of interest. Again, looking back at this trip 6-3/4 years ago has fascinated us.

I loved that restaurant and am so glad the restaurant we were supposed to go to was closed. If I remember correctly, the trip to Darkhan was a day trip to a meeting at which you spoke. I think Happy drove. It was separate from the multi-day trip. Yusek, or Yusuf, did not take us to Darkhan.
ReplyDeleteGullible, in your post, dated Wednesday, December 30, 2015, photo number 32 of 38 photos, you specifically showed that we did indeed first head North to Darkhan. Then we went West to Khutul where we stopped to eat lunch and for Yusef to find an ATM. Then we proceeded West past Erdenet to Bulgan where we spent the night. It was from your post that I found this information.
DeleteIt was on our trip to the village of Choir, South of Ulaanbaatar, please see your post dated Monday, December 21, 2015 for the trip, where I spoke at a meeting. I have never known of, nor spoken at any, meeting, in Darkhan.
DeletePS: we stopped to watch that herd because it was crossing the highway, walking along the side for a couple hundred feet, then re-crossing the highway. Hilarious. And, the herder was on a motorbike.
ReplyDeleteI thought the herder you mention was Batbold who was on the 25 year old horse that you mounted much to everyone's joy and celebration. Smiles. Cap and Patti
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely incredible trip novella!!! Amazing photos and narration. It's very pitty I couldn't see any of the pictures over the link to 2015 but I've read all the notes to these "photos" and was able to imagine at least a small part of the scenes described... Happy you share your travel experience with us! The accents are made on what is actually interesting for me, for example, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cap, Patti. Thank you, Gullible. ♥
Thanks Olga for your comment. Do you know how to go to Gullible's website Olga? How to navigate it? Go to year 2015. Then go to the months of December and then January 2016 and see if you can see her photos there on her website site .. go to : http://gullible-gulliblestravels.blogspot.com/ .. Smiles .. Cap and Patti too
