DEC 3, 14 .. HONG KONG .. VICTORIA HARBOR TOUR ..

During her visit to Hong Kong with me ..Patti did not make many .. IF any .. special requests of me in terms of what she would like to see or to do. Basically Patti was very happy to just .. Go with me for rides on the Star Ferries .. To eat Singapore Rice Noodles .. To go to meetings .. To just enjoy the ambiance of Hong Kong.  Patti seemingly had no 'agenda'.

HOWEVER .. as Patti's time here in Hong Kong was drawing to a close .. Patti asked me if we could take a Hong Kong Star Ferry Tour of Victoria Harbor.

At first .. and I don't know why .. I did not really want to do this.  Then I realized that Patti's request was about the only request she had made so we went and we enjoyed a wonderful tour of Victoria Harbor!

Below is a map of the Tour. FOLLOW THE ARROWS!

For Patti and I the tour began in Kowloon at the Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Pier. You can see the white star on the red and blue background above on the Kowloon Peninsula.  The tour then went to the left (counter clockwise).

Bring your popcorn for here we go on a long tour of Victoria Harbor!

Below we have just left the Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry Terminal and are pulling away from its mooring.

The trip is now underway! The first photographs are all of the Kowloon side of Hong Kong's Victoria Harbor.

Our Salisbury Road YMCA is immediately above the Star Ferry on the right above.  In the below photo the YMCA is almost dead center.  On the right below is the tan-colored Hong Kong Cultural Center.

We are on-our-way. The Hong Kong Cultural Center is the tan colored building above and below to the left of the Star Ferry Terminal.

Below is part of the western Kowloon Skyline.

Amazing the number of beautiful tall buildings!

I was running around the boat and swiveling around from east to west and from the front to the back of our Star Ferry.  Some of these photos I shot looking back across Victoria Harbor from the vicinty of the Hong Kong Central Star Ferry Pier

Will you just look at the absolute FOREST of tall buildings to the right side of the below photo!

Will one-of-you tell me how anyone could tire of this scenery!

To refresh your memories of our route .. below is the map of our tour.

We have made the left-hand turn around the loop to the left above and are .. in the below photo .. looking at the Hong Kong skyline in the vicinity of the Central Star Ferry Pier you see on the map  above.  So we have left the Kowloon side of the harbor and now will be looking at the Hong Kong side of Victoria Harbor.

Above and below .. in the background .. is Hong Kong's Victoria Peak.

Above the light was playing tricks-on-me.  I only had one shot at each scene because we were moving so it was get-the-photo I could when I could.  You photographers understand (Gullible and Clement and Shaddy).

I simply NEVER tire of looking at the beautiful buildings!

In the above photo .. on the water in the center is the Hong Kong Central Star Ferry Pier.  Go back to the map above to see where we are now.

Moving in closer to the Hong Kong Central Star Ferry Pier.

The Star Ferries are but one type of the several distinct types of ferries that you will see on the harbor.

Oh Patti Oh Patti! You really made the right call for us to take this tour! Thank Goodness I listened!

Many different types of water craft.

On our map below .. find the Wan Chai Star Ferry Pier.  Do you see it? Immediately to the left of the Wan Chai Pier is the phenomenal Hong Kong Convention Center.

Below we are now approaching the Hong Kong Convention Center!

Impressive!

Now we are starting to move into the area to the right of the Wan Chai Pier you see in our map below.  We are still looking at the Hong Kong side of Victoria Harbor.

Above and below you see some harbor dredging and other work in progress.

Will you just look at the never-ending buildings in the background of the photos above!

Well hello there!  What have we here?

How about an afternoon out on Victoria Harbor to enjoy some fishing. Enjoy?  If they don't make a catch they may not eat tonight.  This is not for funny! They do look relaxed don't they!

We are now working our way around the loop on the right end of the map below. Soon we will be again looking at the Kowloon side of the harbor.

"Am I pretty Dad?" .. "Oh Yes You Are Pretty!"

Can you believe the Mandarin characters?  Just study them and see how very complex some of them are! Awesome!

Below we have completed the loop to the right and are now heading for home moving to our left.  Again we are now going to be looking at the Kowloon side of the harbor.

And .. it is difficult to comprehend .. but they are building more buildings!

Aye Matey! .. What have we here .. some pirates!

The tallest building above is relatively close to the HOMY INN where Patti and I stayed several days.

And we are back to the Hong Kong Cultural Center. We are almost at the end of our wonderful Victoria Harbor Tour!

Below is a straight-on view of our YMCA!

And just what might you be Matey?

And as we pull into our terminal to finish our tour .. another Star Ferry heads out across Victoria Harbor.

Just point the camera and squeeze the button and VOILA!
Another great photograph.  Just that simple!

See what I mean!  How can I miss!

I SO HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE TOUR!

Smiles from the two of us .. Cap and Patti ..

  2. It is not like me to be negative about one of your ideas but at first I was NOT warm to the idea of the harbor cruise. I am SO HAPPY you prevailed with me. Happy you enjoyed this post. It .. like so many of my recent Posts .. took on a life of its own! Love .. Cap ..

  3. Listen to that woman, Cap. The Hong Kong Convention Center is remarkably similar to the Sydney Opera House, isn't it? The Sydney shells are completely dependent of the "houses" built beneath them, so if one needs to be remodeled or reconstructed, the work is done under the shell without removing it. Is the Hong Kong center the same?

    1. I am happy I did listen to Patti. I do not know about the engineering details of the Hong Kong Convention Center. I imagine that IF the Sydney Opera House has a good design so too would the Hong Kong building. I don't think these folks miss much. Thanks for tuning in here .. Smiles .. Cap ..

  5. Hi Cap! Got your post card today, and have been following along
It has been 9 years since my trip to Hong Kong. Such a beautiful city. Do they have the holiday lights on the buildings at night yet? So beautiful!
Stay happy, and enjoy your travels! I know you will eat lots of glorious Sing. Noodles! Yum.
Hugs to you and Patti from wet and rainy San Francisco.

    1. WOW ! SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU HERE KITTY .. Oh Yes .. You would think we are in a highly religious society .. Christmas Lights on Christmas Trees and YES Hong Kong as viewed from Victoria Harbor looks like a Christmas Advertisement and Christmas Carols on all-the-time seemingly everywhere I walk or every building that I enter. Christmas is in-my-brain as a result. I have shown so many photos of Singapore Rice Noodle dishes my followers think that is all I eat. Little do they realize they are close.. The other mainstay of my diet are the instant noodles with Skippy Brand peanut butter and Snickers Brand mini-candy-bars.

Don't forget this site has a link to my other website .. babakaps.net ..

So nice of you to post a comment here Kitty. Best to Jackie ! .. Smiles .. Cap ..
