Girdwood, Alaska, is a small but very affluential resort and skiing community of approximately 2,500 permanent residents. It is considered to be within the Municipality of Anchorage. Located 38 miles South of Anchorage, it takes about 45 minutes, driving South down the scenic Seward Highway to get there.
Girdwood is a very special place for Patti for several reasons.
First, Patti lived in Girdwood from the mid 1960's until June of 1980 for 15-1/2 years. She and her husband designed and built a log home that is still standing and occupied.
Second, Patti's niece currently is a long time resident of Girdwood!
For 'pointing and snapping', Yours Truly recently took two great photos of Patti and Eryn.
Let's see the Alyeska Hotel!

We have left the Seward Highway and we are on the road into Girdwood.
In the below photo, we will drive up the hill until the road ends.
The road has ended. Now we turn left and head for the Alyeska Hotel.
As large as the front parking area is, it can still be quite a challenge to find a vacant parking place!
The Hotel Alyeska.
Now we walk up the driveway towards the main entrance into the Alyeska Hotel.
We hope to see you all for Part 2 tomorrow!
