JAN 30, 19 .. MARIINSK / МАРИИНСК .. MUSEUM OF LOCAL LORE

The МАРИИНСК / MARIINSK Museum Of Local Lore is yet another 'find' on Trip Advisor.

 The museum has moved.

 The below five photos show its former building.






 Its former building was steeped in time and tradition BUT Father Time overcame it and the museum had to be moved because the cost(s) of refurbishing it were prohibitive.

 Below is the current location of the museum. They will NOT be returning to the above former home.


















Back from 1180 to 1240 'give or take a few years' the Mongolian Empire of Chinggis Khan occupied this area as well as a lot of other territory in what is now modern Russia.

 It is interesting that the below two figurines are definitely Mongolian in appearance.








Mike with the curator of the museum. She took great pride in showing us around.

    Looks like a very interesting museum. Glad it was open for you. Mariinsk was a good stop .. to rest up a bit and to explore a bit. Smiles and hugs. Patti
