APR 14, 13 .. KODAIKANAL TAXI SERVICE .. PART I ..

In Pondicherry .. they have Auto Rickshaws ..
In Kodaikanal .. there are NO Auto Rickshaws!




In Pondicherry .. they have Tempos.





In Kodaikanal there are NO Tempos.

In Kodaikanal the Taxi thinks that it is King. 



'Zilla please do not ask me why there are no Auto Rickshaws and no Tempos here in Kodaikanal.



The basic starting fare for a taxi is 100 Rs ($2.00 US Dollars).  Few people pay this.  Here is the deal.  Many taxis are 'shared taxis'.  Each person in the taxi pays a flat 10Rs ($0.20 US Dollars) and the drivers will cram as many as is humanly possible into their taxi.  In the front seat will be the driver and two male adults.  Six or more will cram into the rear.  When in Rome .. do as the Romans do!

It would NOT be India IF the taxis were not crowded inside.

All of the above are mini-vans.

They also have 'Jeep-Like' taxis.

    I simply wanted to appreciate you yet again. I am not sure what I would have used without the type of information shared by you directly on such a subject. This was a very alarming setting in my view, however , spending time with a skilled mode you handled that made me to cry for fulfillment.
