As many of you know .. I write a lot of post cards .. so I visit my local post offices often and get-to-know some of the staff.
Here is a little walk-through of the Kodaikanal Main Post Office.
Here we are walking up to the Post Office. The prominent red and yellow sign up-on-the hill identifies the Post Office to its right. On the lower right of the below photo notice the street vendors.
All over India are the street vendors. I don't know how they scratch-out-a-living but I love their colorful appearance. I just love India!
Up the small hill we are going to walk.
Looking up at the red and yellow landmark sign. The steps are to the immediate left in the below photo.
And up-the-steps-we-go.
At the top-of-the-steps we turn right 90 degrees and face the main entrance.
Turning right we see the landmark red and yellow sign!
Turning left we see the other side of the main entrance. Notice the nice little table under the large umbrella for people to write upon.
I really like the Kodaikanal Main Post Office.
A closer look at the red and yellow sign.
The main business counter. At the extreme right end of the business counter in the below photo can you see the head of a lady? THIS is the Indian Railways representative here in Kodaikanal. And this is her 'window'.
Looking back down the main counter do you see the railway schedule board straight ahead of you?
A closer look at the Indian Railways 'corner' in the post office.
A look at the Post Office Box Section.
I 'captured' the above photos 'after hours'. You don't think a post office in India is as empty as the above photos show now do you?
Now we are going to walk back outside.
Ahead of us is the stairway down to the street.
What is it they say? On a clear day you can see forever!
A closer look down at the ONE main street here in downtown Kodaikanal.
