On April 14th I acquainted you with Kodaikanal Taxis. Today I want to add to that post.
Below are several photos of where I walked from the Raahat Inn to catch a bus or a 'shared taxi' to the Top-Of-The-Hill here in Kodaikanal.
IF it 'looks-sort-of-grim' .. it's because it IS sort-of-grim! But it-is-what-it-is! The 'gray' day did not help either. The five people straight ahead amidst the motorcycles are at the 'unmarked' bus and 'shared taxi' pick-up point.
A close-up of the Kodaikanal 'Welcome'..
The below photo looks in the direction from which the buses and 'shared taxis' arrive.
I engaged the man holding the shopping bag and wearing a coat and a warm cap. Notice people 'squeezing' into the rear of the white 'shared' taxi!
You can see the blue sky in the background and the shadows the sun is casting behind the two men. It IS fairly warm (70 F) for the one man to be wearing so many clothes.
And I said .. "Isn't it a tad warm to be wearing all that clothing?" .. A nice man .. he just smiled.
Knees-To-Knees in the back of the cab!
I shot this photograph because it was unusual in that it did not say JESUS.
THEN IT WAS SPECIAL to have the driver of the above vehicle pick-me-up. Below in his windshield is IMMANUEL!
Here in this part of the world.. one's very life could hinge on the knowledge of the following fact: The Jewish .. The Muslims .. The Christians .. ALL worship and revere the SAME IDENTICAL HIGHER POWER .. that being 'The God of Abraham' in the Old Testament. So .. as a for instance .. if you are mixing with those of the Muslim faith .. it is not bad or wrong to say 'Praise Allah' because you are saying 'Praise To The God of Abraham'. It is not exactly smart to be in this religious climate and to be overly critical of other's beliefs.
IF you know-your-stuff you KNOW the theology expressed below does not identify specifically any of the three above major religions. The same GOD belongs to each.
So sayeth the Jewish .. the Muslim .. and the Christian .. GOD IS GREAT.
The Cross makes the below a Christian theology.
Muslim ..
Muslim ..
In the above photos .. there certainly are a lot of overtly expressed religious beliefs. The photo below is not about taxis. It is just symbolic of the 'religious overtones' here in Kodaikanal.
This .. call it 'overt religious intensity' .. is unique in my experience here in India. Oh yes! It is elsewhere too but here in Kodaikanal it really jumps-out-at-you! And for me it is NOT at all uncomfortable. People seem-to-be trying to be better and that is a very good thing.
My Opinion .. Cap
